WARMINSTER Town’s two defeats this week elicited two very different reactions from manager Andy Crabtree.

On Saturday, the Red and Blacks pushed table-toppers Chipping Sodbury Town all the way at Weymouth Street, only to succumb to a late goal and go down 1-0, but on Tuesday, Crabtree’s men slipped to a disappointing 4-1 drubbing at struggling Wincanton Town.

Sean Brereton’s first goal for the club put Warminster a goal up but Connor Williams hit a brace for the hosts, whilst Daniel Golden and Daniel Wise also notched to heap misery on Warminster.

“On Saturday, they scored 10 minutes from time but we gave a good account of ourselves – we didn’t do that on Tuesday,” said Crabtree.

“We went ahead but we should have been three or four goals up. We missed a golden opportunity when we were 2-1 down and we kept making mistakes.

“They had four chances and scored four goals, and they didn’t have to work for those goals.

“We just need to try and be more ruthless in both penalty areas because we weren’t on Tuesday.

“No disrespect to the players that played but we didn’t travel down with our strongest side – what we had should have been good enough to go there and get something, though.”

As they look to get back to winning ways, Warminster face a tough trip to in-form Hengrove Athletic this weekend.

Crabtree added: “They’ve won seven in a row but we’ll go there and do our best to get something.”
