MELKSHAM Town boss Darren Perrin says that he is already concocting his plans for the 2016-2017 campaign.

With five league games remaining, Perrin’s side are still chasing a shot at promotion to the Southern League and are also in the final of the Wiltshire Senior Cup and quarter-finals of the Les Phillips Cup, but the Conigre chief’s thoughts have already turned to next season.

Melksham are also due to move in to their new Woolmore Farm ground next term and their manager is urging his players to prove their worth during a hectic final few weeks to stay in his plans for the future.

“I’m certainly planning for next season, especially with moving in to the new facility,” said Perrin.

“It is in my mind (as to) what players I would like to recruit and which players that I possibly won’t need, so it’s now about making my mind up and making some decisions on where we want to go as a football club, and I’m certainly doing that.

“But having said all that, we’ve still got a hell of a lot to play for this season – we’ve still got a Wiltshire Senior Cup final, we’re still in the quarter-finals of the Les Phillips Cup and we’re still looking to finish in the top five of the Western League.

“Already, I have had a few players from other clubs showing interest in coming to Melksham. Whether that’s because of the new facility; I don’t know.

“One thing I won’t do is bring anybody in just for the sake of it, I’ll show a lot of loyalty to the people at the club, who have been very good and made us have the success that we’ve had in the last couple of seasons, but I’m also desperate to take Melksham into the Southern League and if it means that I’ve got to make one or two unpopular decisions along the way, then so be it.”

Last weekend, a depleted Melksham were beaten 3-0 by title-chasing Bristol Manor Farm, with Kye Holly hitting a brace and Harley Purnell - also a former Chippenham Town man – also on target for the visitors.

Melksham’s home clash with Street on Monday was rained off and has been rearranged for April 21.
