THE top two sides in Division One met at Beverbrook where leaders Warminster Town Reserves visited Potterne in the first of back-to-back games.

Warminster, who had gained a few narrow wins in recent weeks, saw the tables turned as Potterne threw the title race wide open with a 1-0 win.

After a goalless first half a Jake Waters free kick won it for Potterne who had keeper Craig Campbell to thanks for all three points as he produced an unbelievable save to deny Warminster a late equaliser.

With neither Aces FC or opponents Hilperton United threatened by relegation, the teams who are just outside of the drop zone met at the University of Bath and it was the former who took the spoils thanks to a 2-1 win.

Rich Stevens saw his opener for Hilperton cancelled out by youngster Alfie Little, for whom it was his first goal in competitive football.

Hilperton grabbed their winner with five minutes left, Sam Stevens saw his cross turned into his own net by the unfortunate Rob Garraway.

Freshford United may have thought their hopes of finishing top of the pile for a third successive season disappeared a long time ago.

However Chris Birleson’s side fresh from last Tuesday’s A&B Cup victory over Westbury Town have been thrown a lifeline.

The villagers' 4-0 win over White Horse FC coupled with other results means they could still finish as champions if they win their remaining three matches and other results were to go their way.

Frankie Elliot set up the opening goal for Dave Percival, before Percival turned provider for Tom Rooney to make it 2-0.

Jason Povey and a second from Percival, who were both set up by Elliot made it 4-0 with all the goals coming in the first half.

Semington Magpies who have enjoyed a successful second half to the season visited title hopefuls Luxol St Andrews, who were looking to avenge their 2-1 loss from December and keep their hopes of catching leaders Warminster Town Reserves alive.

They did just that with a 7-1 win. Luxol gave Shavon Allen a rare start and the striker had a huge impact as he scored a four-timer as Luxol ran out easy winners.

Allen opened the scoring and goals from Aaron Cockerill and Mark Reynolds made it 3-0 before Allen stole the show with the next three goals.

Cameron Thomas added number seven and Semington’s lone reply came via a Luxol player, Andy Donald beating his own keeper late on.
