BRADFORD Town hotshot Sam Jordan has completed a switch to Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division side Weymouth.

Jordan, who amassed nearly 100 goals for Toolstation League Premier Division side Bradford in the last two seasons, will link up with the Terras, divisional rivals of Chippenham Town and Frome Town, for the 2016-17 campaign.

The 26-year-old was snapped up by Weymouth player-boss Jason Matthews, who revealed his club had pursued the frontman at length, despite interest from other clubs.

Jordan netted 26 times in 32 games in league and cup for Bradford last term and Matthews told the Dorset Echo: “Sam has scored nearly 100 goals in the last two seasons and we are delighted to have him on board.

“He is strong and quick and that’s something I feel we have lacked, and he is keen to make the step up. I feel he will do very well.

“He is a different type of player to what we have got.

“He scores goals, obviously he has to do it at a higher level, but he is really keen and hungry and is the right age.

“I think we have fought off around six clubs for his signature. Two or three are at our level so it is quite a coup I think.

“The thought of playing in front of 500 or 600 every week was appealing to him, I know that.”

He added: “We have done a lot of research on him personally because of the vicinity he lives in. A lot of people spoke very highly of him and, actually meeting him, you could see he was keen and hungry.

“He can’t wait to get going and that’s the actual feel I have got with most of the lads.

“It’s important for us to hit the ground running and I am trying to get the best squad possible. That gives us around 14 players now, we are probably two away from what we want to start the season with.”
