FROME Town were unable to turn their fortunes around as they fell to their third consecutive defeat away at Redditch United.

The visitors were beaten by a 75th minute goal moments after Darren Chitty pulled off a penalty save to lose 2-1.

Frome, who were without a whole host of players, including Sam Teale, Jordan Walker, Clayton Green, Kris Miller, MItchell Page and Mike Bryant who were all out through injury or suspension.

They were however boosted by the return of defender Connor Roberts who slotted back in at right back, alongside Marcus Mapstone and Nathan Summers in the centre of defence.

The visitors struggled initially as they couldn’t get used to the 3G artificial pitch, but luckily the hosts were unable to capatalise on their slow start as it remained goalless.

After a series of saves from goalkeeper Chitty, Redditch finally broke the deadlock two minutes before the break as Danico Johnson headed home at the far post.

Despite being a goal down, Frome came out for the second half brightly and it took them until the 73rd minute to draw level.

Mapstone found fellow defender Roberts with plenty of time and space on the right and he was able to pick out Jake Jackson who nudged it home.

However, their lead only lasted two minutes as Nathan Summers gave away a penalty, before Chitty denied Redditch the lead with a save to put the ball out for a corner.

It was from that corner Frome would be undone for the second time when Duane Courtney headed the home side back into the lead.

As their search for a second equaliser continued, Frome were fortunate not to have conceded again when Johnson was clean through, only to put the ball wide.

Despite the defeat, Frome can be encouraged by the improved performance on the pitched as well as in discipline and they’re back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Larkhall Athletic.
