FROME Town suffered a third defeat on the bounce on Wednesday night as they were bested in the Somerset Premier Cup at Larkhall Athletic.
The Robins went down 2-1 in the opening round of their county cup, with former Frome man Rob Hobbs putting the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One West hosts ahead with a thumping early strike.
Frome did manage to level matters with 20 minutes on the clock, courtesy of Aiden Kirby, but with extra-time looming, Dean Griffiths fired the winner past new Robins goalie Kyle Phillips, signed from Mangotsfield United to replace Darren Chitty, who has made the switch to local rivals Chippenham Town.
On Saturday, Frome were also beaten 2-1 in the league, losing on the road at Redditch United.
Despite Chitty saving a penalty, Jake Jackson’s goal proved little more than a consolation.
Frome’s trip to Chesham United on Saturday has been postponed due to the Generals’ FA Cup commitments.
