A week after they suffered a 3-2 loss to Trowbridge Town A in the Knockout Cup, Aces had the pleasure of hosting Trowbridge Town Reserves in the one of three Briken Motors & A M Print & Copy-sponsored A&B Cup first round ties.

Aces gave a great account of themselves before losing out 4-2.

After falling behind to Jason Hughes fifth-minute goal, Aces responded with Andy Rhead restoring parity before half time.

Ashley Poms put through his own net to put Aces 2-1 on 51 minutes but back came Trowbridge to level through Saul Johnson’s clinical finish in the 58th minute.

Goals from Dan Filer and Jason Truckle sealed victory for Trowbridge.

Luxol St Andrews got the better of first division stablemates Semington Magpies, as a 5-0 victory gave one of the A&B Cup favourites their place in the second round of this season's competition.

Luxol got off to a perfect start with Zack Manna putting them 1-0 up early on.

Manna doubled the lead on 20 minutes and the tie was as good as over when a deflected Elliott Carris-Smith made it 3-0 prior to half time.

After the break Luxol pressed home their advantage and added a fourth in the 58th minute, Manna netting to complete his hat-trick.

Ben Howlett thumped home a wonder strike on 66 minutes to wrap up Luxol’s five-star performance.

Second division The Stiffs were huge underdogs for their A&B Cup clash at home to Division one outfit Westbury Town and it was the latter who progressed to the next round after winning 11-2.

Veteran Tony Patterson and Steve Lewin scored for the Stiffs but Ashley Easton scored a hat-trick for the winners, Tom Blackman and Jon Hogarth scored two apiece, Dale Rowland on his debut, Gary Tugwell and Jack Hayward, who opened the scoring, being among the goals.

Holders Freshford United were amongst a hosts of clubs who received a bye into the second round of this season’s competition.

With Real Rudloe and White Horse FC withdrawing from the league it meant that respective opponents Stockton & Codford and Melksham Town A were also given a walkover into the last 16.
