WARMINSTER Town Reserves missed out on the chance to claim a share of top spot with Melksham Town A in Division One after their four-match unbeaten start to the season was ended by Freshford United.

United's 3-1 success at Weymouth Street saw them beat their hosts for the first time in three attempts to move them just one point off top spot.

Freshford broke the deadlock through Phil Little from a Dave Percival assist and Percival himself added the next two goals, Joe Newman having a hand in his first and Nick Ross played a helping hand in the second.

James Vincent pulled a goal back for Warminster before half time and although they enjoyed more of the second half they were unable to break down a well-organised Freshford side who took a deserved win.

Trowbridge Town Reserves were on the road at basement side Heytesbury who have suffered a torrid time in the early part of the latest campaign.

The villagers, who saw many players move on in the close season, are going through a rebuilding process and appear to be getting closer to that elusive win.

However once again they were left regretting missed chances as they suffered a 1-0 defeat.

The only goal of the game coming in the 16th minute from a Jason Truckle free kick which deceived his everyone before nestling in the back of the net.

There was much more than bragging rights at stake when local rivals Westbury United Reserves and Westbury Town went head-to-head at Meadow Lane as the latter were looking to claim their first win of the season.

After an entertaining first 45 minutes that saw the teams enter the break locked together at one apiece it was Westbury Town who emerged the stronger in the second period to claim a 3-1 win.

Dan Cox saw his opener for Westbury Town cancelled out by a Grant Gunning effort.

An excellent run from Jon Hogarth played in Gary Tugwell whose neat finish saw Robbie Cunningham’s side regain the lead early in the second half and in the final minute of the game they wrapped up the victory when Steve Munday fired home for 3-1.
