A FIRST win of the season for The Stiffs saw them move of the foot of the Division Two table, and their 5-4 victory at Warminster Town A will no doubt give them a confidence boost going into what they will now view as a few winnable games in November.

Stiffs led through a Steve Lewin, header before Drew Eglin restored parity for Warminster on 23 minutes.

A Leon Lloyd own goal gifted the lead back to the Stiffs and when Rob Clarke’s effort flashed in off the post to put them 3-1 ahead they couldn’t have wished for a better start.

Warminster got back in the game before half time via an Adam Clark effort.

Stiffs reclaimed a two-goal cushion early in the second half, Nathaniel Edwards first ever goal for the club putting them 4-2 up.

Gibbens' half-volley reduced the deficit for Warminster, however Stiffs response was brilliant and a debut goal from Fosu Gharban who lashed home from 25 yards made it 5-3.

Warminster kept themselves in the game courtesy of a late strike from  Lloyd which made for a hectic final 10 minutes but the Stiffs held on for a deserved win.

Aces came out on top in their eight-goal thriller at home to a Melksham Town B side for whom it was their ninth outing of the season.

Aces, who trailed 3-2 at one point, scored two late goals to secure a fine 5-3 win.

Goals from Steve Tuke and Dave Morris cancelled out Sam Robinson’s first-half effort for Melksham.

A second from Robinson and a Callum Thorburn effort put Melksham 3-2 ahead.

Aces responded well and drew level through Andy Rhead, before further goals from Tuke and Rhead handed them their 5-3 win.

The top two sides in the division put their unbeaten starts on the line when they met in Holt, and it was leaders Three Daggers who maintained pole position with thrilling 6-2 victory over the youngsters of Bradford Town Youth.

A great leap from Daggers’ centre half Matt Morgan saw him head them into the lead.

Bradford weren’t behind for long as Will Jones got them on level terms. Adam Bishop restored Daggers’ lead with another bullet header, which was followed by fine finish from the magnificent Mark Young to give Daggers a 3-1 interval lead.

Bradford had the chance to narrow the gap to the odd goal when they were awarded a penalty, however the chance went begging as Dylan Hatt missed the spot kick and moments later Daggers’ made them pay when Young made it 4-1 from the spot at the other end.

Bradford replied with a great strike from Scott Baker but Daggers capped their dominance with a wonderful strike from Wayne Wheeler with a free kick 25 yards out.

Scott Walford wrapped things up with a piece of individual brilliance to cap a superb performance.

Calne Eagles kept up their good start to the season with a 7-1 win over basement side Zeals.

The game was effectively decided by half time as Calne opened up a 5-1 lead. Calne opened the scoring after only 12 minutes when a superb through ball by Karl Sharratt released Barry Forester who finished confidently past Zeals’ keeper Shane Rendell.

Mickey Taraskevics was also having an awful lot of joy with Zeals' high defensive line, resulting him by scoring a first-half hat-trick, with three very neat finishes.

Jordan Winter added goal number five with a smart turn and finish inside the box.

Zeals reduced the deficit to 3-1 midway through half when good pressing from Zeals' front three strikers saw a clearance charged down, which fell to Claudio Alberto Da Silva Lopes, who calmly slotted his shot past Andy Windsor.

In the second half Calne added two more early goals through Barry Forster, who finished off another one-on-one after a sublime pass from Jordan Winter.

Adam Welch also got on the scoresheet after a being set up by strike partner Mickey Taraskevics.

Trowbridge based rivals Trowbridge Town A and Trowbridge Wanderers Development, who are both new to the league this season travelled to Christie Miller for their first meeting of the campaign and it was Bob Arburry’s hosts who took the spoils thanks to a 7-0 win.

Tyler Dagger’s first minute goal gave Trowbridge Town the perfect start, Kieran Green made it 2-0, Kyle Morgan-Hemmens added number three, before goals from Dean Gumm and Thomas Caldicott put them 5-0 up at half time.

Both Gumm and Green added to their first-half goals after the break.
