TROWBRIDGE Town boss Tom Robson admits Saturday’s 3-0 win at Beversbrook was a welcome tonic for the Bees.

Goals from brothers Dan and Ashton Shanley plus a penalty from Danny Baker wrapped up Town’s first Premier Division triumph since mid-September as they gained revenge for a disappointing exit to their Calne rivals in the Wiltshire Senior Cup.

Robson admits he and assistant Anthony Ottaviano have had their hands full putting together a side in recent weeks but hopes they are back on an upward curve having earned their fourth victory of the season.

“It was a much-needed win because we’ve had a few difficult weeks where we’ve come up against decent opponents and have had a lot of players missing,’’ said Robson.

“Hopefully this will give us a bit of confidence going into the next round of fixtures and kick-start the season a little.

“It’s been hard. There has been a lot of change at the club and the cup defeat to Beversbrook (5-3 in early October) was a bad one.

“The lads have realised we can’t go into games with the attitude that they are already won, but they are very hard-working so hopefully we’re on the up now.’’ Benjamin Carter scored twice and Gio Wrona was also on target as Cricklade Town kept up the pressure on division leaders Shrewton United, courtesy of a 3-1 win at Wilts Calne Town.

Mike Jenkins scored for Calne, who had Nick Manifold sent off in the second half, as Cricklade remained five points behind Shrewton, who were 6-3 winners at Melksham Town Reserves.

Wroughton made it nine wins in 11 matches to stay in third spot as they edged out bottom side Pewsey Vale Development 2-1.

Marlborough Town were 2-0 winners at Royal Wootton Bassett Town Reserves, a Nathan Good header and a Rob Harland free-kick doing the damage for the visitors.

Malmesbury Victoria Development got the better of Devizes Town Reserves with a 1-0 win at Nursteed Road.
