MELKSHAM Town were able to extend their unbeaten run to five matches after picking up all three points against Bridport.

Lee Davidson’s 67th-minute goal was enough to separate the two sides with Darren Perrin’s side now second in the league table.

“It was a very tight game as the score suggests, I probably got as much satisfaction out of Saturday as I did in any of the other wins this season," said Perrin.

“We were well below par on Saturday but the players were able to grind out a win a 1-0 win and sometimes those victories are just as good as when you win three or four nil.

“I was delighted with the win Bridport were a strong and well organised side so it was good to get all three points.

“The players have done brilliantly, I know it sounds boring and it is a cliché but we take each game as it comes.

Despite going well in the league, Perrin is under no illusions the weekend will be yet another test for his team.

“The next game for us is Cribbs on Saturday, all we can do is worry about ourselves, enjoy our football and win as many games as we can,'' he added.

“They’re a good side, they were one of the better teams that we faced last year, they have a very good centre forward in Darren Edwards.

“We know we are going to need to perform to get anything out of the game and if we do we can get something positive out of the game.

“My aim this season was always to finish above where we finished last year, last year we finished fifth so I am desperate to finish in the top four this year.

“At this moment we are in a good position to do that but we certainly aren’t going to get carried away.“ Meanwhile Danny Greaves’ Bradford Town aren’t enjoying the best run of late as they slipped to their third defeat in a row.

The latest came in a 5-1 thumping at home to third place Street, after going into the break a goal down the hosts then shipped a further four before Kane Simpson grabbed a late consolation.
