MELKSHAM Town closed to within six points of Toolstation League Premier Division leaders Bristol Manor Farm with a 2-0 victory over Cribbs at the Conigre on Saturday.

As Manor Farm were being held 1-1 at home by mid-table Cadbury Heath, Darren Perrin's side made it five games unbeaten and a third clean sheet in a row to eat into the leaders' advantage.

New signing Sam Jordan made an immediate impact for the home side, after Gary Higdon had headed Melksham into the lead just after the hour mark.

With less than a quarter of an hour left, former Bradford Town man Jordan, signed on dual registration forms with Southern League side Weymouth, headed home the second.

Melksham have also snapped up former Nuneaton Town and Southampton Academy player Dan Demkiv.

There was also no joy for Calne Town at home to Bishop Sutton, the Lilywhites being on the end of a 4-1 defeat at Bremhill View.

Two down at half-time, the home side conceded twice more before Mark Dolman's late consolation.

Warminster Town were edged out 2-1 at home by division leaders Keynsham Town, who netted through Patrick Davison and Samuel Duggan, Tom Welch with the red and blacks' reply.

Westbury United put a three-match winless run behind them as they outplayed Bishops Lydeard 3-0 at Meadow Lane for their eight win of the season.

Otis Young had by far his best match for United and it was he who opened the scoring after seven minutes when he brought the ball down, turned and finished confidently from 20 yards.

It was no surprise when Westbury doubled their lead on 20 minutes Jordan Pinder’s strong midfield tackle leading to the ball being played to Dan Price then Jamie Jordan and on into the penalty area where George Bendle’s persistence paid off as he dispossessed Mark Cornish and produced an accomplished finish.

A fully deserved third goal came on 56 minutes when Jordan scored with a low drive .

Pewsey Vale have their third win in Sydenhams League Division One as first-half goals from David Cope and Gareth Robb secured a 2-0 home success over Hythe & Dibden.

Goals from Dale Richards, Henry Spalding and Steve Robertson gave Royal Wootton Bassett Town a 3-2 success over Highmoor-Ibis in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
