MELKSHAM Town’s new signing Sam Jordan got off to a flying start after grabbing a debut goal to help his team earn a 2-0 win over Cribbs.

After a goalless first half the hosts were able to make the breakthrough in the second half through Gary Higdon, before new boy Jordan sealed the win after doubling their advantage in the 77th minute.

“It was a really tough game against a decent side, there was nothing between the two sides in the first half,” said Melksham boss Darren Perrin. “I think 2-0 flattered us a little bit, but we probably deserved it a little bit overall, we’ve had tough games for the last two weeks now and that’s what we need.

“It’s pleasing to get another three points and another clean sheet but there is certainly no danger of us getting carried away.

“The two goals were very similar, they came from two great crosses and were two excellent headers.

“Now we have a big game on Saturday in the FA Vase (Against Hartley Wintney)and it will be nice to go into the game as underdogs.”

Jordan, who has joined the Wiltshire club on a dual registration with Weymouth Town, wasn’t the only new arrival to get his first game for the club as Dan Demkiv got a full 90 minutes under his belt.

“They’re two very good players, Sam (Jordan) is on dual registration so the bottom line is he is a Weymouth player,” added Perrin.

“He’s come here to get some minutes before he goes back to Weymouth, we know it’s going to be short term but his goal record is phenomenal.

“Dan (Demkiv) wasn’t getting much playing time at Nuneaton Town and he did very well on Saturday.

“If we can help him move up the football ladder while he is here then it’ll benefit him and obviously us in the short term as well.”

Meanwhile Dan Cottle’s first half goal was enough to earn Bradford Town a draw away to Wells City.

Despite taking the lead at the half an hour stage, Bradford were dealt a blow when Anthony Conradi was given a straight red for an off the ball incident.

After a valiant effort, Danny Greaves’ side conceded in the last 10 minutes as the hosts snatched a draw.
