WITH a number of mouthwatering ties from the second round of the Briken Motors & AM Print & Copy-sponsored A&B Cup, the game that delivered the goods was at Weymouth Street where first division hosts Warminster Town Reserves suffered a 5-4 extra-time defeat against second division Three Daggers.

Three Daggers were the more clinical of the two teams in a first half that saw Joe Moloney and Mark Young give them a 2-0 lead.

Lewis Graham halved the deficit on for Ryan Earney to head Daggers back into a two goal advantage.

Two quick-fire goals from Charlie Walton and James Vincent led to Warminster restoring parity at three apiece.

A sublime Wayne Wheeler free kick saw Daggers regain the lead, however poor defending led to a late penalty for Warminster which Graham tucked away to level up at 4-4.

With the game in extra time Daggers won a penalty after Wheeler was fouled, Ryan Earney duly stepped up and fire home to give Daggers their 5-4 win.

Calne Eagles saw their A&B Cup adventure come to an end at home to first division Luxol St Andrews, whose 4-0 victory over their second division hosts was the seventh time this term that they had managed to keep a clean sheet.

Josh Hard, who has been a revelation since signing for Luxol this season, gave his team the lead on 23 minutes and his scintillating chipped finished in the 10th minute saw them go into the break 2-0 ahead.

Kieron Hard’s awesome strike from 20 yards made it 3-0 and the win was completed by Mark Reynolds who fired home the fourth of the afternoon.

Just a week after they destroyed Trowbridge Town Reserves 11-1 in the league, A&B Cup holders Freshford United hosted Ralph McCaldon’s side looking for a place in the quarter-finals.

Trowbridge were once again put to the sword as the hosts were rampant, winning 15-0.

Phil Little started the ball rolling and two goals apiece for Nick Ross and Waleed Bakali put the hosts 5-0 ahead at the break.

The second half saw Freshford fills their boots, Dave Pervical bagged himself a five-timer, Bakali added a third to complete his hat-trick.

Theo Sing, Mike Little, Fynn McCarthy-Driver and an own goal made up the 15.

For just the second time this season, Heytesbury had a good day at the office.

The villagers, currently bottom of Division One avoided a cup upset when they came from a goal down to beat Division Two strugglers Trowbridge Wanderers Development 9-2.

Heytesbury fell behind on nine minutes when Owen Churchyard turned the ball home from a corner.

James Morrell levelled for Heytesbury on 18 minutes after being set up by Phil Lucas.

A stunning 30 yard curled effort from Jamie Howse on 24 minutes put Heytesbury 2-1 and the same player made it 3-1 a few minutes later.

With the first half drawing to a close Howse completed his hat-trick for 4-1 before Myles Woodward netted for a depleated Wanderers side, for whom manager Ross Pugh had to play the whole game.

Heytesbury continued to boss the game and on 62 minutes Bradley Edwards set up Lucas to make it 5-2. Minutes later, Lucas won a penalty and Howse made no mistake from the spot for 6-2.

Howse turned in a Bradley Edwards cross to claim his fifth and Heytesbury’s seventh of the tie before Kyle Edwards turned home from close range and Alex Clancy lashed in 20 yards to completed the scoring.

Despite being given a home tie against second division, Zeals, first division Hilperton United were given a scare by Jason Carter’s visitors to Whaddon Lane who held them 1-1.

James Clifford’s early strike for Hilperton looked as if it would separate the teams at the break. However, with the half-time whistle looming Scott Talbot gave Zeals a lifeline.

In the end his goal proved to be a consolation as Nathan Glass and Marc Sheppard and Reuben Spong with two saw Hilperton book their place in the last eight in a 5-1 success.

The all-first division battle between Stockton & Codford and the previously unbeaten Melksham Town A was another eye-catching contest as Stockton ended Melksham unbeaten run with a 2-1 extra-time success.

Ashley Caws goal gave Stockton a 1-0 interval lead which was cancelled out by a Paul Gittens header which took the tie to added time where a second from Caws saw Stockton book their spot in the last eight.

First division Westbury United Reserves needed extra time and penalties before overcoming a stubborn Bradford Town Youth, whose whole team were aged under 18.

Goals from Tony McElhone and Nick Taylor gave Westbury a 2-0 advantage at the break.

Bradford dominated the second period and goals from Louis Woodford and Chris Office squared things up to take the game to extra time.

A second from Woodford looked to have won it for Bradford, however with a minute left Westbury were awarded a penalty which Marc Lanfear slotted home to level at 3-3 and take the game to penalties.

There, Lanfear, Taylor, McElhone and Dane McKenzie found the net to earn Westbury their quarter-final berth.
