A PLACE in the last four and local bragging rights were at stake when Westbury United Reserves hosted local rivals and last term's beaten Briken Motors & AM Print & Copy-sponsored A&B Cup finalists Westbury Town at Meadow Lane.

The all-top flight clash went the way Bobbie Cunningham’s Town side whose 3-2 success saw them book their place in the last four.

In what was a tight first half, Westbury Town saw Matty Mead’s opener cancelled out by Ed Leeson.

Dale Rowland regained the lead for the Town early in the second half and things became a little easier when Tom Blackman put them 3-1 up.

Tony McElhone pulled a goal back for United, but Cunningham’s side held on to claim their win.

On paper, defending A&B Cup holders Freshford United had the easiest quarter-final tie.

Chris Birleson’s side were paired with Division One basement side Heytesbury, who they had already beaten 10-0 earlier this season and once again they were in the goals as they ran out 11-1 victors.

The game was over in the opening 14 minutes as Freshford opened up a 4-0 lead, Theo Sing, Dean Ranger, Alfie Little and Dave Percival (penalty) finding the net.

A second from Percival gave them a 5-0 advantage at the break. Adam Sheppard who spent the first 45 minutes in goal went up front in the second half and a quick-fire double took it to 7-0.

Nick Ross, a Sam Spratt own goal, a stunning 30 yard Joe Sharples effort and a third of the game for Percival made up the 11.

Bradley Edwards scored a late consolation for Heytesbury.

Luxol St Andrews, who are chasing silverware on four fronts, kept their hopes of A&B Cup glory alive courtesy of a 6-1 win over Hilperton United.

Hilperton, who suffered a 2-0 defeat when the teams last met, got off to a flyer and opened the scoring inside the opening minute with Steve Ball putting them 1-0 up.

Josh Hard got Luxol back on level terms and Mark Reynolds netted to give them a 2-1 half time lead.

After the break, Tom Rooney added number three before Hard claimed his second when he finished off a superb team move.

A third from Hard, a 25-yard thunderbolt, saw him claim a hat-trick for 5-1 before Mark Reynolds rounded the keeper to tap home Luxol’s sixth of the tie.

Second division flagbearers Three Daggers saw their cup hopes end with a 5-1 loss away at first division Stockton & Codford, who were at their best to inflict only a second defeat of the season on their rivals.

Stockton led 2-0 at half-time through a Jason Povey double, the second of which came from the penalty spot following a foul on Nick Sleeman.

Stockton turned the screw in the second period and went 3-0 up through Sleeman before Ryan Earney headed home for Daggers.

Sam McEntee made it 4-1 and substitute Ashley Caws sealed victory for Jayson Stokes' side.
