A SECOND win in three games saw The Stiffs move of the bottom of the Division Two table for the first time since the start of the season.

Ade Giles' side defeated local rivals Trowbridge Wanderers Development 3-1 to avenge their 5-1 loss from before Christmas and in doing so relegated their hosts to the foot of the table.

Despite having the better of the first half all the Stiffs had to show for their efforts was a 1-0 lead, which came when Rob Clarke was on hand to turn the ball home when he followed up Chris Giles' initial shot.

Clarke made it 2-0 with a left-footed finish from an acute angle after good work from Lee Ridout.

Tom Patterson’s close range finish gave him his first goal of the season and Stiffs a 3-0 lead.

Adam Pickford’s penalty gave Wanderers their consolation in a match that the Stiffs completely dominated and really should have had a few more goals but were denied by Martin Cowdrey in the Wanderers goal.

With The Three Daggers in cup action, Calne Eagles moved to the top of the table with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Aces FC.

In a dominant first-half display Calne opened the scoring after 18 minutes when Adam Welch finished neatly past James Moody in The Aces goal.

Welch then added a second 10 minutes later when he headed home a left-wing cross from Jordan Winter.

Welch completed a hat-trick just before half time when he headed home another superb cross from central midfielder Winter.

With five minutes left Calne completed the 4-0 scoreline when another great driving run from winger Karl Sharratt saw him brought down in the box to win a penalty.

After more than 80 games for Calne Eagles, 20 year old centre back Matt Bowery stepped up to score his first-ever goal with a composed finish.
