FROME Town boss Josh Jeffries admits relief was the principle emotion as his side returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Stratford Town at the weekend.

The win comes after Frome slipped to a disappointing 4-1 defeat the previous weekend to Kettering Town.

During the turbulent period, Jeffries has been unable to watch his side from the touchline as he served a two-game stadium ban.

The 3-1 home win was overseen by his assistant, Ben Cleverley, but Jeffries will return to the touchline for this weekend’s trip to Cinderford Town.

“It was nice. Obviously I wasn’t there, so I had to watch it through social media,” said Jeffries.

“I am really pleased that we bounced back from being beaten. Luckily, we haven’t had to bounce back too many times this season.

“I had some feedback and it sounded quite comfortable, and we seemed in control.”

The hosts took the lead in the opening minutes through luck when Jean Kallenda put the ball in his own net.

They were then able to make it 2-0 shortly after the half-hour mark, with Jon Davies scoring from the penalty spot after Stratford’s William Grocott had handled.

After going into the break with a comfortable cushion, the visitors were able to slash Frome’s lead when Mike Taylor found the back of the net, but persistence paid off for Frome who grabbed a late goal through Davies to seal the win.

The move stemmed from substitute James Fitzgibbon, who won the ball in his own half before passing it on to Jake Jackson.

From here, Jackson picked out an incoming Davies, who coolly slotted the ball into the net.
