A 2-0 VICTORY for Calne Eagles at Melksham Town A moved Roy Wenham’s side to the top of Group A of the Gooding Accounts-sponsored Division Two Cup.
A Will Gale double, which both came in the first half, made sure his team claimed a third straight win in the competition.
Warminster Town A fell from top spot after they were beaten 4-2 at Trowbridge Town A, whose victory leaves them in third place in the table but gives them hope of finishing in the top two.
Trowbridge were 2-0 up at half time through goals from Tyler Dagger and Dan Filer.
Curtis Wyeth got Warminster back in the contest before Dean Gumm regained a two-goal cushion for Trowbridge.
A second goal for Wyeth made things interesting before Sam Robbins netted for Trowbridge to kill off any chance of a Warminster fightback.
For the time being Aces FC find themselves top of the Group B table, a 2-2 draw at home to Trowbridge Wanderers Development means that the Bath-based side have a one-point advantage over the chasing pack.
However things should have been a lot better as they were leading 2-0 at the break.
First-half goals from Aziz Uddin and Andy Rhead put Aces in what appeared to be total control. However a battling Wanderers fought back in the second half to claim a point, Radek Jakiel scoring both of the goals
