MELKSHAM Town moved into the semi finals of the Toolstation League’s Les Phillips Cup as a late goal from Luke Ballinger handed them a 1-0 win over Buckland Athletic at Oakfields on Saturday.

Darren Perrin’s men left it late to secure a last four spot as Ballinger applied the finishing touch to a cross from Joe Stradling in the 85th minute.

Melksham have been drawn away to face Gillingham Town, who this weekend announced they would be withdrawing from the Toolstation League to return to the Dorset Premier League at the end of the season, in the semi final.

Perrin's side resume Toolstation League Premier Division business tomorrow night as they entertain Hallen (7.30pm).

In the Toolstation First Division, Chippenham Park came from behind to register a 3-2 success at Bishop Sutton, Ben Pring, Lewis McCarron and Scott Fear with the goals for the Hardenhuish Park men.

Corsham eked out another precious point in their battle to pull away from the bottom two places as they drew 3-3 at top-seven side Bishops Lydeard.

Defenders Robbie Tripp and Marcus Brown, as well as striker Aaron Masson notched for Nigel Tripp’s side, who are now two points clear of second-from-bottom neighbours Calne Town, although the Lilywhites do have two games in hand.

The all-Wiltshire derby between Warminster Town and Devizes Town ended all square at 1-1 as Rob Mitchell scored in the first minute for the visitors before the home side responded.

Pewsey Vale remain bottom of the pile in the Sydenhams League Division One after a 2-1 home defeat by high-flyers Christchurch.

A stunning late show from Royal Wootton Bassett Town saw them come from behind to win 3-2 against Oxford City Nomads as they signed off their Hellenic League Premier Division campaign with victory.

With ten minutes of their season remaining, Bassett were on course to suffer a fifth straight league defeat – and a second successive loss against a side mired in the bottom four of the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Instead, they pulled off a stunning comeback, scoring twice in the game’s final five minutes to seal victory in their 1,000th Hellenic League match.

The visitors took the lead midway through the period when Steve Yeardley converted from the spot after Withers was hauled down by full back Connor Mattimore.

Nomads drew level against the run of play when Matt Cheetham was adjudged to have handled the ball following a shot from Daniel West giving the hosts a penalty which was duly converted by Billy Gillett.

With the game edging towards the final quarter, the hosts took the lead when Matt Woodley’s corner was met at the back post by Daniel Leggett, whose looping header sailed home.

Bassett drew level in the 85th minute when a defensive mix-up allowed Steve Robertson to ghost in for a one-on-one with the Nomads keeper.

However, his shot ricocheted off the crossbar into the path of Dale Richards to put away rebound.

Bassett bagged the winner when they caught Nomads on the counter when Richards, who had ran on to a fine ball from Liam Edmondson, squared to Yeardley to tap home the winner.
