FROME Town slipped to a disappointing 4-1 defeat away to Biggleswade Town at the weekend in their final game of the Southern League Premier Division season.

After hauling 10 points in from their last four outings, manager Josh Jeffries was entitled to feel aggrieved after a frustrating final performance.

It means the club finished eighth in the table after what has been a largely surprising season.

It was clear from the early exchanges that it wasn’t to be Frome’s day when Tony Burnett poked the hosts ahead two minutes into the tie.

After an lull in the game it fired back into life when Jake Jackson pulled the visitors level in the 74th minute.

The striker had been tasked with a penalty after James Fitzgibbon was brought down in the box, Jackson saw his first effort saved by Ian Brown, only to slot home the rebound which was his 21st of the season.

However, the season may have taken its toll on Frome as they fell apart in the final stages.

Burnett was able to add to his goal tally when he popped up in the 80th minute to restore his team’s narrow advantage.

It wasn’t long before Luke Emery doubled the Waders’ advantage with six minutes of the game to go.

The game hadn’t finished there as Biggleswade still had time to see Craig Daniel notch deep into injury time.
