Defending Trowbridge & District Football League Division One champions Melksham Town ‘A’ begin the new season with an early test away at Freshford United.

Melksham, who suffered a 2-0 defeat when the teams met in early May, travel to Brown’s Park looking to atone for that loss, one of just two they suffered in 20 league outings last term Last seasons’ runners-up Luxol St Andrews host Westbury United Development, while Stockton & Codford welcome newly promoted Calne Eagles, who will want to get off to a winning start on their return to the top flight.

Warminster Town Reserves travel to Semington Magpies and, after winning there on the last two occasions, they will be favourites for a third-straight win at Little Marsh.

Meanwhile, Trowbridge Town Reserves will visit Three Daggers, who finished as Division Two champions.

In Division Two, local rivals Trowbridge Town ‘A’ and Trowbridge Wanderers Development lock horns, Town won both games last term and will be favourites to take the points again.

Heytesbury will be looking for an immediate return to Division One as they come up against Aces, as Melksham Town ‘B’ entertain newcomers Greyhound FC and the Trowbridge-based side will be desperate to start with a win.

Fellow new boys South Newton & Wishford host a Zeals side who have never won on the opening day in four attempts and, for that to change, Jason Carter’s side will have to be at their very best.

The Stiffs may have lost three times at the hands of Warminster Town ‘A’ last season, but the first time the sides met they conjured up a 5-4 success so Ade Giles will be hoping that his team can work their magic again and they can kick off with a win for the first time since 2010.
