HOLT tightened their grip on the Division Two top spot thanks to a 2-1 victory over a battling Heytesbury side.

Heytesbury led on seven minutes when Dan Dicks headed home before Mark Maguire headed home a Mercer free kick to bring the equaliser in the 30th minute.

Holt’s winner came on 80 minutes, and once again it was Maguire who grabbed the all-important goal, which came when he tucked away a penalty.

Greyhound, who picked up their first win in 11 outings when they beat the Stiffs 4-0 last weekend, were unable to chalk up back-to-back wins when they hosted Aces FC at Clarendon Academy as the visitors came from 2-1 down to claim a 4-2 success.

Joe Garraway’s opener for Aces was cancelled out by Adam Welch who then added a second to give Greyhound the lead.

Vijay Manro restored parity for Aces prior to half-time and then added struck twice more to claim a hat-trick. Ryan Stevens in the hosts' goal kept the score at 4-2 when he brilliantly saved a late Aces penalty.

A 9-0 victory for Melksham Town B at home to The Stiffs keeps them in second place.

Melksham put their guests to the sword in the first half, Ben Macey and Ben Winn scoring two each, with Gage Jones and Nick Ridout netting to put the 6-0 ahead.

After the break things were a little better for the visitors as Rich Wyatt found the net before Ridout bagged another two which saw him claim a hat trick.

Zeals, who suffered a surprise loss to Trowbridge Wanderers Development last weekend, got themselves back in the promotion rance with a harder than expected 2-1 victory over South Newton & Wishford.

Following a goalless first half, Arran Carter and Adam Cudlip won it for Zeals, with Pete Ashcroft scoring for South Newton.
