MELKSHAM Town B saw their fairytale Chantry Digital-sponsored Knockout Cup run come to an end with a 2-1 semi-final defeat at Luxol St Andrews.
The second division outfit, who defeated first division leaders Freshford United in the previous round, gave a good account of themselves but came up just short against a Luxol side who will play Stockton & Codford in the final.
Kieran Hard’s delightful dink picked out Tom Rooney whose brilliantly-lobbed effort gave Luxol a 1-0 interval lead.
Nick Taylor stayed alert while Melksham’s defence stood still waiting for an offside which didn’t come, leaving Taylor to double the Luxol lead.
With five minutes remaining Sam Robinson halved the deficit for Melksham with a sublime effort but Luxol held on.
