FOLLOWING a 4-1 win over Wells City this weekend Bradford Town are now in pole position to be promoted from the Toolstation League Premier Division.

Leaders Street secured their spot in the Southern League with a 3-2 win at home to Cribbs, leaving Bradford Town, Melksham Town and Willand Rovers all vying for second place.

At the moment, the Bobcats sit second, three points ahead of local rivals Melksham after goals from Mark Wall, Sam Jordan, Rickie Scott and Martin Lenihan at Trowbridge Road.

Kieran Baggs will also be a happy man this weekend after watching his Melksham side follow up a midweek win over Wellington with a 3-0 win at Bridgwater Town.

Gary Higdon got one, while Jon Davies made it three goals in two games thanks to his brace.

In the First Division, Westbury United remain level on points with Sherborne Town courtesy of their 3-0 home win. Only goal difference separates them and table-topping Roman Glass St George.

Slightly further down in seventh, Devizes Town were out of action over the weekend but did fall to a 5-2 defeat to Cheddar on Thursday night. Matt Russell and Tom Slater both scoring for the hosts.

Malmesbury Victoria had a weekend to forget as they were thumped 7-0 by Oldland Abbotonians. Calne Town took a surprise lead away to Chard Town, but were soon curtailed as they eventually lost 2-1.

Corsham Town may have eased their relegation concerns after recording a 2-1 away at Bishop’s Lydeard.

Chay Forrester looked to have rescued a point for the trailing Corsham before Matt Purdy fired the visitors ahead with an injury-time winner.

Bottom-of-the-league Warminster Town fell short again, as they were beaten 2-1 by Welton Rovers.

In the Hellenic League, Pewsey Vale secured a 3-3 draw with Cheltenham Saracens.
