FROME Town relegated Dunstable to the fourth tier of non-league football after coasting to a 3-0 win at home on Saturday.

A first half Joe Raynes brace put Frome in control at the break before Ryan Bath sealed three points for the hosts with a goal minutes before full time.

The result means Frome finish the season in 13th having secured 61 points from 46 games.

Kris Miller returned from suspension for Frome’s latest tie while Connor Roberts resumed his usual role at centre back alongside Marcus Mapstone.

Frome pressed early on and could’ve gone ahead as early as the sixth minute when Raynes’ strike from 12 yards out flashed over Dunstable’s goal.

Raynes soon made amends and opened his, and Frome’s account, on 15 minutes after a chipped ball from Josh Bace allowed Raynes to run behind the defence before scoring past Nathan Harness.

The home side continued to take charge of the right wing and were unlucky not to double their lead on 21 minutes as Raynes forced Harness to make a good save with his legs.

Raynes again had the ball in the back of the net on minutes later, only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Persistent pressure paid off again though for Frome who stretched their lead to two when Ben Griffiths’ cross was headed home by Raynes.

Frome went close twice more before half time, as first Bath and then Withey brought saves from Harness.

Dunstable started the second half with intent and were soon challenging to cut Frome’s comfortable lead.

But while Dunstable advanced forward, gaps were left for Brace, Bath, Raynes and Knight to exploit.

However, a series of last-ditch tackles kept the visitors in the game as they continued to fight relegation.

Harness avoided conceding what would’ve been an own goal on 58 minutes before Osei-Bonsu failed to get on the end of a low cross down the other end.

Frome confirmed the inevitable for Dunstable with three minutes left though as Bath turned his marker before placing his shot into the far corner.

The result relegated Dunstable while Frome finished the season in mid-table.
