MELKSHAM Town Reserves' hopes of lifting the Premier Division title took another battering as nearest rivals Kintbury Rangers closed the gap at the top to a point, Rangers still having two games in hand.

Melksham were held to a 1-1 draw by Cricklade Town on Tuesday evening, in a dress rehearsal for their Fountain Trophies Senior KO Cup on Saturday, Devan Bryan netting for Cricklade before Lee Fielding restored parity.

However, Kintbury, who had beaten Melksham 1-0 on Saturday, thrashed Pewsey Vale Development 4-0, with goals from Charlie Allsop, Tom Mahoney, George Smith and Steve Blunt to close up behind the leaders.

Shrewton United ended their home campaign with a 7-0 midweek win over bottom side Bassett Bulldogs, Jessie Walters twice, Charlie Utterson, Ben Bissington, Connor Cutler, Jake Watson and Lee Weeks netting.

Corsham Town Reserves took their unbeaten run to seven games with a 3-1 home win over Wroughton, Adam Mitchell, Max Whittaker and Matt Purdy on target as Shane Hibbert replied.

Devizes Town Reserves made it two wins in a row with a 2-1 home success over Trowbridge Town, Alex Surman and Martin Mitchell the scorers as Ciaran Taylor replied.
