CLARENDON Academy sixth-former Adam Bolwell clinched a gold medal for Team England at the Sainsbury’s UK School Games.

The youngster, who trains at Devizes Budo Club under Jason Parsons, Mark Burbidge and Dave Duxburry, was selected for the U60s kg weight category and defeated two Scottish, one Irish and a fellow England player to win the prize.

Bolwell is already in the England squad and ranked fourth in the country in his weight group, having joined the high performance programme at Team Bath during the summer.

Westbury sprinter Will Kennedy was also at the Games in Manchester as part of the England South West 4x100m relay team, which finished last after a faulty handover after the first leg.

Kennedy then competed for Team Avon at the Youth Development League national final in Birmingham, winning the 200m and earning bronze medals in the 100m and 4x100m relay.

He will finish his outdoor campaign at the forthcoming Blackpool Medal meeting where he is the reigning U17 100 and 200m champion.
