WEST Wilts slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Gloucester City in their Davis Wood League Championship division clash at Kingdown School.

The home side fell behind in the first half before James Baker had a shot brilliantly saved by the visiting keeper.

Mark Brothers and Ben Creedy went close after the break but, despite fine goalkeeping from Finn Walton, Gloucester wrapped up victory with a penalty flick.

Wilts 2nd team romped to a 5-1 win over Wootton Bassett A in East Central Two.

Martin Allsop’s pass to an open Rob Heyes provided the opening goal and a second followed as Allsop found Alex Arnold on the back post to double the advantage, Heyes and Allsop combined to square for Toby Dorgan to slap home and Dan Tanner slotted home a rebound before half time.

In a flat second half, man of the match Dorgan scored his second before Bassett managed a consolation.

West Wilts Ladies stopped the rot against Mendip as they claimed a 1-1 draw at Kingdown School in their West Clubs League East Division encounter.

Behind to an early goal, Wilts struggled to get back into it as penalty corners were well defended by the visitors.

Wilts continued to drive forward, finally being rewarded with a pass from Amanda Robson to Livie Evans on the right, who shot past the keeper.

In Wessex Division Two, West Wilts 2 secured a 5-0 victory over Old Bristolians 5.

A strong strike from Kirsty Stewart at the top of the circle was picked up by Lauren Trim and slipped home for the first goal.

Stewart then netted a double with a strong strike and then a dribble into the D.

Two further goals followed from Helen Culverhouse and then Laura Smith.

West Wilts 3 were 3-1 winners over Wootton Bassett 3 in Wessex Division Three.

Tenacious work from Melissa Ilic saw her pass three defenders before slipping the ball home A clearance by Jess Agate then found Holly Barry, who pulled back for Nikki Ford to score. The third goal arrived before half time as Suzi Agte fired across goal for Yolanda Kennedy to net.
