BARBURY Castle trainer Alan King's Karezak puts his Triumph Hurdle claims on the line in the Q Associates Juvenile Hurdle at Newbury tomorrow.

Around the 20-1 mark for the four-year-old championship, Karezak made a winning hurdling debut at Chepstow and the form has worked out remarkably well.

He beat Philip Hobbs' Golden Doyen, who has subsequently won twice, including a Grade Two event at Cheltenham's Paddy Power meeting.

A maiden on the Flat for John Oxx and then King, Karezak was bought to go hurdling and he got his new career off to the perfect start.

He is owned by the McNeil Family who have been lucky enough to have Mille Chief, Grumeti and Walkon to date.

"We are looking forward to Karezak reappearing in the opening juvenile hurdle," said King on alankingracing.co.uk.

"He showed plenty of spirit to win first time over jumps at Chepstow and with the runner-up, Golden Doyen, having won twice since, the form is looking rock-solid.

"The third was 22 lengths back, so, hopefully, they were two decent juvenile hurdlers, and though Karezak picked up a nasty cut and needed several stitches, he is fine now, and we think the galloping track will suit him well."

Carrying a penalty, Karezak is unlikely to have things all his own way as Paul Nicholls runs Old Guard, a winner on the level for Beckhampton trainer Roger Charlton and a half-brother to Thistle Bird.
