LEADING amateur jockeys will descend on Barbury Racecourse for Sunday’s Tedworth point to point.

The feature race, the Tedworth Gold Cup Mixed Open over three and three-quarter miles, has attracted eight entries.

Dante’s Storm, a prolific winning pointer, is aimed at the stayers test for trainer Alan Hill, having cantered to victory on his only start this season in the Men’s Open at Hackwood Park.

He will face competition from the Jack Barber-trained Bellsinni Ron, who has won or been placed in all three of his starts in 4m-plus races.

Making his pointing debut is the versatile Pentiffic, who has been Hunter Chasing for the last two seasons, having won over 2m 4f and placed over 3m and 4m 1f.

Hincheslea Moor will line up over this distance for the first time as will Turtle Boys.

Of the 12 entries for the Restricted Race, Boa Island won his debut point in a Maiden at Charlton Horethorne on March 8 by 20 lengths for trainer Barber.

James Ridley’s Amron Kris is the highest rated horse in the race and placed second on his first run for the new yard in a Restricted at Cottenham in November.

Three of the entries all ran at Milborne St Andrew on March 21, including David Turner’s Coeur Brule, who won the Open Maiden. Hellesbelles won the 2m 4f Maiden, while Daves Venture placed third in the Restricted.

Although pulled up last time out, Definitely Rosie has placed in Restricted races three times this season, as has Gleannacreim twice.

Marlpit Oak showed a return to form at Hackwood Park recently, while Black Forest Lodge also runs.

Entry on the gate is £10 per person (U16s go free). First race is at 12.15pm and the last at 5pm.
