BRADFORD on Avon club swimmers were among the medals at the South West Age Group Regional Championships at Millfield School.

Laura McNab led the way in the 14 year age group, securing two gold and two silver medals, with victories in the 50m (28.14) and 200m freestyle (2:09.24) and runners-up spots in the 400m free, in a time of 4:40.15 and 200m butterfly.

William Mitchell added a brace of silvers in the 13 years 50m and 100m breaststroke in times of 34.88 and 1:18.06 respectively.

There were also bronze medals for Ethan McNeil, in a personal best 5:24.69 in the 400m individual medley and Madeleine Aldam-Gates in the 200m breaststroke, clocking 2:57.19.

In addition, Lucas Lawman qualified for the boys 200m individual medley final, finishing seventh in 2:38.44 and the 200m backstroke, finishing fourth in 2:31.51.

Lily Cookson (eighth in 2:57.67) and Evie Brady (sixth in 2:41.32) both reached the 200m butterfly final.

Aldam-Gates was also eighth in the girls 50m freestyle.

In the final event Lawrence Martindale, Archie Prichard, Lucas Lawman, Arthur Bown-Mazzoni and Joseph Ashworth. Arthur Bown-Mazzoni reached the final of the 11/12 age group 100m butterfly, finishing fourth in a time of 1.13.10.

Among the other Bradford swimmers taking part were Isobel Criddle, Hugo McNeil, Tristan Loftus, Lawrence Martindale and Imogen Rafferty.

The event saw top junior swimmers from the south west of England taking part.
