DANNY Talbot has been drawn against the fastest man on earth in the men’s 200m semi-finals at the World Championships in Beijing tomorrow.

The Trowbridge Tornado faces the daunting task of taking on a field including Jamaican superstar Bolt, who reasserted his position as world 100m champion last weekend, as well as Turkey’s Ramil Guliyev, who was the fastest qualifier through this afternoon’s heats with a time of 20.01 seconds.

Talbot, 23, raced the final leg against Bolt as England won silver in the men's 4x100m relay at the 2014 COmmonwelath Games in Glasgow, with the Jamaicans taking gold.

The Wiltshire sprinter progressed through to Wednesday’s semis, with his race due to begin at 1.46pm (UK time), at the Beijing National Stadium by finishing third in his heat in 20.35 seconds – 0.5 seconds slower than his personal best – behind Jamaican Warren Weir (20.24), who took bronze at the London 2012 Olympics, and Greece’s Lykourgos-Stefanos Tsakonas (20.14).
