CHRIS Roxburgh secured a silver lining to his season by getting himself onto the podium at the British Duathlon Championships last weekend.
Westbury Leigh’s Roxburgh has switched his focus to powerman distance events in recent months but decided to bring down the curtain on his season in a shorter race.
That proved to be a worthwhile decision for the 30-year-old has he finished second in his class at the national age-group championships at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
“I’m training for powerman distances now so I wasn’t really race fit for standard distance,” said Roxburgh, who competed in the in 30-34 age group.
“I thought this would be a good way to finish the year. I was chasing down bronze in the closing stages and ended up getting silver so I am quite pleased with how it turned out.
“That’s it for the season now so we will start planning for next year on the powerman circuit.
“I enjoy the longer distance stuff. It is a lot of hard work and a big commitment but I enjoy it more than the standard distance stuff.”
