ENGLAND under 15 boys’ 1500m champion Hayden Bailey heads a powerful Team Bath squad for the Saucony English Cross Country Relays in Mansfield on Saturday, writes Kevin Fahey.

The Bratton youngster will be joined by team-mates Rory Howorth, from Hilperton, and could also be accompanied by Semington’s Charlie Stockley for the under 15 boys’ age group race.

Team Bath’s boys’ under 17 squad also boats the likes of Will Stockley, Chippenham’s Cameron Perkins and twins John and Robert Howorth.

Trowbridge’s Anna Burt and Caitlin Wosika step up to girls’ under 17s and will be joined by Lacock’s Yasmin Watling, in what looks another formidable line-up.

  • LACOCK-based runner Stuart Henderson has praised the new Bristol to Bath marathon.

The Wiltshire half marathon champion placed eighth overall and second veteran over 40 from over 4100 competitors with a time of 2hrs 49mins 18secs.

That was only five minutes outside Henderson’s personal best, with the 41-year-old using the event as a training run.

“I enjoyed it, running a comfortable pace throughout the race,” said Henderson.

“The hills were not as hard as I expected, but it was still a challenging course.

“I was very happy with my eighth place and I feel I could have gone slightly faster.”
