WEST Wilts fought back from two goals down to earn a point in their top of the table clash against Wotton-under-Edge in the GoCre8 Men’s League.

The hosts started the stronger and Wilts found it difficult to maintain spells of possession.

When Wilts goalkeeper Rob Parsons saved a short corner attempt from Wotton, it deflected onto his defender on the line.

The penalty stroke was converted and Wotton converted a second, but the home side could not maintain the pressure With nothing to lose, Wilts went to all-out attack in the second half and reaped the rewards.

Creating chance after chance, they eventually got the breakthrough they deserved when the ball was transferred to Mark Brothers, who smashed the ball into the net.

Wilts smelt blood and with 10 minutes to spare, James Baker was able to deflect a shot towards goal which snuck in the far post.

CORSHAM Ladies beat West Clubs League Wessex Division One leaders Chippenham 2nd 4-3.

A goal from Beck Davison-Smith saw Corsham trail 2-1 at the break before further strikes from Lucy Stanley, Vickie Hathway and Mel Bessell turned the game around after the break.

Corsham 2nd went down 8-0 to their Wootton Bassett counterparts, while they fared slightly better in the battle of the third teams, only losing that one 7-1.
