WEST Wilts men’s team hit hosts Hereford for six to maintain their unbeaten start and move to the top of the Conference North table.
Wilts controlled the early pace and kept possession. Hereford managed to build a few attacks but nothing that the Wilts defence couldn’t handle.
Ten minutes in, Nick Lemon got the visitors off the mark by scoring in a crowded D. More pressure followed and just before half-time, Paris Goddard slickly finished a short corner routine to give Wilts a 2-0 lead.
Lemon doubled his personal tally early in the half before James Baker sent the Hereford keeper the wrong way on a penalty flick and drilled the ball into the net to make it 4-0.
Minutes later, Lemon set Baker up for his second of the game.
Neither player was able to complete a hat-trick but Wilts continued to find the net as Will Janes showed his drag flick ability and fired home from the top of the D to convert another short corner.
With the win in the bag, a lapse of concentration led to the Wilts keeper receiving a yellow card for a piece of bad judgement.
As a result, Hereford managed to mount a successful attack and scored a consolation in the final minute.
Meanwhile, West Wilts Ladies 3rds thrashed their Corsham counterparts 6-2.
Suzi Agate, Nikki Ford and Sally Ford all bagged braces as they climbed into the top three in Wessex Division 3.
