TWELVE gymnasts from the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics travelled for the South West Grades competition at the Plymouth Gymnastics Club.

The youngsters competed on five pieces of equipment - vault, bars, beam, floor and range and conditioning - performing set skills in order to achieve a certain score on each piece of apparatus.

Wiltshire School had three experienced gymnasts competing in Grade 4, all of them achieving a distinction.

The other nine gymnasts were all competing in their first competition. Four took part in Grade 5, all also achieving a distinction, as did the five competitors in Grade 6.

Grade 4: Zoe Hunt 63.70, Abby Hemmens 62.55, Polly Boother 63.25. Grade 5: Millie Knudsen 60.75, Lydia Webb 60.69, Alysia Garrett 59.35, Martha Green 58.69. Grade 6: Alexa Evans 63.80, Maya Jakubowski 62.49, Isabel Brazeley 61.75, Natalie Dennis 60.50, Jessica Potter 59.10.

PUPILS from Walwayne Court, Paxcroft and Holt schools competed at the KS1 Gymnastics competition, organised and led by Clarendon Academy.

Held at West Wilts Gym Club, the event combined the floor and vault apparatus, featuring teams of six, while 2012 Olympic rhythmic gymnast Francesca Fox, from Hilperton, was among the judging panel.

Year 2 Individual Floor and Vault: 1 Izzie Macie (Holt); 2 Charlotte Watts (Paxcroft); 3 Maya Robles (Paxcroft).

Year 2 Team Competition: 1 Paxcroft A; 2 Paxcroft B; 3 Holt.
