WILTSHIRE swim star Stephanie Millward showed off the fruits of her Paralympics-focused labours with three victories at last weekend’s National Para-swimming Championships.

The 34-year-old, who won five medals at London 2012, relocated to Manchester in October after being selected on the British Para-swimming Podium Programme and at her new local pool, the Manchester Aquatics Centre, Corsham’s Millward was on-form last Saturday and Sunday.

Competing in her S9 category, Millward, who works with head coach Rob Greenwood and national coach Graeme Smith at British Para-swimming’s new National Performance Centre, won the 100m freestyle (1:05.64), 100m backstroke (1:13.58) and 400m freestyle (4:48.72) whilst also coming third in the 200m individual medley (2:41.79).

In April next year, Millward, who also won four gold medals at the 2013 World Championships in Montreal, will trial for a place in Great Britain’s squad for Rio 2016 at the British Swimming Championships at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow.

Meanwhile, another Wiltshire Paralympic medallist was also in action in Manchester.

Trowbridge’s Aaron Moores, who won a silver medal in the S14 100m backstroke at London 2012, finished second in both that event (1:06.23) and the 100m breaststroke (1:10.20).
