CUMBERWELL Park golfer Laurie Canter faces an early-morning alarm call when he restarts his 2016 European Tour season in South Africa tomorrow.
The 26 year old, who secured playing rights on Europe's premier tour for this year after finishing inside the top 25 at qualifying school in Spain in November, is due off at 7.30am at the BMW South African Open.
Canter, who plays out of the Cumberwell club in Bradford on Avon, tees up at Glendower Golf Club in Johannesburg in a field which also contains major champions Ernie Els and Retief Goosen.
He played two events on the 2016 tour late last year, making the cut in the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa as well as the Australian PGA Championship on the Gold Coast.
Wiltshire golfer David Howell, from Swindon, who plays alongside Els for the first two rounds, is also in the field.
Canter's Cumberwell Park clubmate Steve Surry was first reserve for the tournament.
