BUDDING race ace Bradley Hobday is set to contest a British circuit championship after dominating a regional sprint championship in his Jedi race car.

The Trowbridge driver achieved unprecedented success in his debut junior championship season last year, scooping 14 trophies in the Formula Jedi series.

Now the talented 28 year old competitor has his sights set on the Formula Jedi British circuit championship and is busy building a Mark Six Jedi with an upgraded engine.

Apart from Castle Combe, all the venues were new to Hobday in 2015 and despite the steep learning curve, he broke the 1100cc racing car record at all of them bar two and was only two tenths away in one of those.

Hobday, who consistently made the top 12 run-offs which saw him go head to head with British sprinting top names, said: “I am delighted with what I have achieved in the sprint championships last year and it is beyond what I ever expected for the regional championship series.”

Now with a new car, more competitive power and extra tyre options, he is determined to keep his race success on track.

His success has attracted the interest of Yuasa, the world’s leading battery manufacturer as well as his local sponsor, Trowbridge-based motor factor Prospect Auto Spares.

He has moved from a sprint series to enter the Formula Jedi Championship - rated as one of the most important single seater championships in Britain - taking part in 20-minute races at some of the most popular circuits around the country.

Hobday added: “I am really excited about this new season and the chance to drive on some of the most famous circuits around the country.’’ He will make his debut at Silverstone with the new race car in the spring.
