TROWBRIDGE rider Victor Cox will not be competing at the Isle of Man TT this weekend, as was expected.

The 30-year-old had turned to the event after failing to secure a ride in the British Superbike Championship this year but having failed to get the required signatures to secure a licence, he has had to rethink his plans.

“I have had to pull out of the Isle of Man TT,” he said.

“Basically, you need four race signatures to get your mountain course licence and I have got one that carries over from last season and I was hoping to get something for the beginning of this season but that hasn’t happened.

“With the TT fast approaching, I was basically left in no position but to pull out and look at it again for next year now.

“It is disappointing because I put a lot of time in to learn the course and flew over to the Isle of Man a couple of times but at the same time, I still want to do it next year so the time won’t be wasted.

“It is something I had been focused on and was looking forward to but it just hasn’t worked out this year.”

Now Cox, who completed his rookie campaign in the British Superbike Championship with Morello Racing Kawasaki last year, is forced to wait to see if an opportunity at a team comes up throughout the course of the season, with round three having been completed at Brands Hatch last weekend.

“I am not too sure what my next step is now,” he added.

“I am hoping to get back on a bike and do some racing in the British Championship this year but it is just talking to people and waiting for something.

“It is quite disappointing because I have put so much into the sport over the years but I have just got to sit tight and see what happens.

“I think the best is still to come but motorsport is a hard thing because it is not just yourself; you need a good team and a good bike.

“Finding the whole package is hard so to get the best out of myself, I need to get the best opportunity available.”
