AMI Peters isn’t like most other 28-year-olds, in September last year she set up her own fight wear company called Raging Beasts, a brand which is now worn by a whole host of professional boxers.

Peters from Hilperton, near Trowbridge, has now seen the likes of former world heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs wear her clothing.

The idea came from a natural interest in the sport, it was also something she spent a lot of her own money on, so seemed to be a natural fit.

She said: “I enjoyed boxing and I love fitness clothing, I am forever spending my money on it. I started selling a few bits, it eventually led more and more into the boxing industry.

“I love designing boxing ring wear and also producing it for people, I wanted something to fit around my home and study life. So my own business was appealing.”

It hasn’t been easy for the boxer and single mum-of-one, who started the business from scratch.

She said: “It’s been a lot of hardship, a lot of trying to master time management and prioritising. It is an emotional and financial roller-coaster.

“My dream is to one day see a huge superstar wearing our kit, in somewhere like Madison Square Garden or the MGM in Las Vegas.”

Most people unwind from a long and stressful day by going home and sitting on their sofa in front of the TV, not Peters she uses meditation which helps her cope with Dyspraxia.

“I don’t watch TV, when I’m not busy working, studying or being a mum, I listen to audio books on how to prioritise time, or I meditate.

“I have looked into Buddhism and I have found it keeps me sane, I am in a constant battle trying to master my mind.”

However, she is now beginning to reap the benefits of her hard work with Bristol’s IBF world bantamweight champion Lee Haskins and Briggs wearing her clothing.

She said: “It makes me feel great, seeing the boxer walking into the ring in something I have worked hard to produce.”

Now she is turning her attention to her up and coming white collar fight night she has organised with her partner Sean Mulvihill.

The fight night is set to take place on Friday 12 August at St Margaret’s Hall in Bradford upon Avon, featuring 15 bouts in total, including two title fights.
