DANNY Talbot will look to finish the season on a high as he returns to action for the first time since the Olympic Games.

The Trowbridge Tornado told the Wiltshire Times that he was delighted with his performance in Rio after reaching the Olympic semi-finals of the 200m and setting a personal best of 20.25 seconds.

Now after a well-earned rest, Talbot has returned to his Loughborough training base and now wants to ensure his season ends on a high note as he heads out to Croatia ahead of a hectic few days.

“I am off on Sunday to race in Zagreb on Tuesday and from there, I’ll go to Brussels to race the final Diamond League meeting on Friday,” said Talbot.

“On Saturday morning, I will fly to Newcastle to race the Newcastle City Games in the afternoon.

“It is a pretty tough schedule but I am used to running three rounds at major championships, so I should be OK.

“Physically, I feel in good shape and did a session in Loughborough that was as quick as I did in Rio. It would be good to end the season with another PB to give me a boost ahead of the winter.”

The Zagreb and Brussels meetings will both attract elite fields whereas the Newcastle Great City Games will bring top class athletics to the city centre, with competitors racing on a specially laid track on the road.

“Zagreb and Brussels are the important meetings and Newcastle should be a bit of fun,” added Talbot.
