CORSHAM'S Stephanie Millward raced to her second bronze medal of the Paralympic Games in Rio tonight.

Millward clocked 1:05.16 to finish third in the women's S8 100m freestyle final, following up her bronze medal in the 400m on Thursday.

The 34 year old, who will race in up to seven events in total in Rio was involved in a tight battle with Australia's Maddison Elliott, who eventually took gold in a new Paralympic record of 1:04.73 and Lakeisha Patterson, the 400m champion, who pipped her to the silver medal with 1:05.08.

Millward said: "You just kind of put your head down and get the best you can possibly get.

"It's a shame not to get the silver but a bronze is very good. It's all good, I'm loving this Paralympics.''

Millward's next event is the S8 100m backstroke - in which she set a new world record earlier this summer - on Tuesday.
