WEST Wilts Ladies first team put a depleted City of Bath side to the sword with an emphatic 8-0 win in East Division.

Jess McLean opened their account from a penalty corner deflection before Livie Evans made it 2-0.

McLean then got her second from a penalty corner, Sharna Crowe netted in similar fashion before Nicky Smith got in on the act courtesy of an assist from Lizzie Robson.

Smith and Crowe got their seconds of the match but McLean had the final word when she completed her hat-trick.

Charlotte Bennett netted a hat-trick of her own to help West Wilts 3rd to a comfortable 4-0 victory away to Keynsham.

Dynamic work from the Wilts midfield of Tess Van Den Berg, Sally Webb, Holly Barry and Lucy Beavan led to mistakes in the Keynsham defence, allowing Bennett to start the scoring.

Slick passing from Sally Ford to Nicky Ford, created another opportunity for Bennett to make it 2-0 at half-time.

Wilts changed their team structure for the second half to ensure everyone was brought into the game and Holly Barry worked fiercely in the centre sending Nicky Ford on the attack with a swift pass and she slotted the third goal past the Keynsham keeper.

Bennett was still keen to get in on the action and she drove the ball across the goalline to finish off her treble.

West Wilts could not match the ladies’ results and surrendered their GoCrea8 League Conference North three-game unbeaten streak with a 3-1 loss at home to Chippenham.

Chippenham arrived for the derby with clear game plan, and matched it with intensity, leading to an end-to-end first half with plenty of opportunities for both sides.

Despite looking dangerous, Chippenham could not make their early pressure count, allowing Wilts to play their way into the game and start to dominate with some patient build-up play and slick passing.

As the pressure mounted, the deadlock was finally broken when Wilts’ record scorer, Rob Robson, rolled back the years and pounced on a rebound before half-time.

The second half began as the first finished, with Wilts continuing to create opportunities but a string of gilt-edged chances were missed and they were made to pay.

Chippenham levelled the scores from a penalty flick and as their confidence grew, Wilts’ heads dropped and positional and mental indiscipline followed, with the away side taking full advantage by netting two more goals to snatch the win.
