A LACK of time on track as a team proved little issue for Team Proto-Col Multisport as they impressed at the opening round of GB Pentathlon’s National Biathle.

Established in January of this year, Team Proto-Col Multisport came away from the opening round in Burnham-on-Sea with three age group titles.

Having focused more on triathlon in the past year, Caitlin Wosika made a storming comeback to biathle (run-swim-run) by not only landing the Under 19s category but also the women’s race.

Wosika paced her first 1,600m run perfectly to come into transition on the shoulder of her closest rival.

A quick transition put the youngster in first place as she entered the water before quickly stamping her authority on the race, winning comfortably.

In the Men’s Master’s group – for competitors between the ages of 40 and 50 – Proto-Col teammates James Greenwell and Kypros Harrison went head-to-head following a fast-paced opening 1,200m.

Greenwell extended his lead in the 100m swim before pulling further clear in the second run to claim victory by over a minute.

There was also success for Richard Smith who, in his debut biathle race, took silver in the Master’s 50-60 category.

Novice junior team members Jack Wosika, Ollie Smith and Will Smith left Somerset without reward though and will now focus on European qualifying at the end of the month.

Away from Burnham-on-Sea, Ben Psaila continued his preparations for a busy summer schedule with a second series win in the Calne Aquathlon (swin-run).

Chris Roxborough was also in action in Manchester, recording a time of 2:40:40 in a marathon to finish 42nd overall.

James Greenwell, team Proto-Col Multisport chairman, said: “Having only established the club in January, we are delighted with both the start to the race season and the rapid progress both adult and junior members are making.”
