The first amateur boxing show held at the Civic Hall, Trowbridge, for a number of years drew a sell-out crowd and saw host club Trowbridge Academy of Boxing gain five wins out of six in the 14 contest show.
First up for Trowbridge was 14-year-old schoolboy Joe Edwards to take a close points decision over W Price (Sturminster).
Larry Ward lost on points to C Hutchings (Apex, Newbury).
Ward stuck to his task gamely against the tall Hutchings but was unanimously outpointed.
The first senior bout for Trowbridge was welterweight Kev Harris, whose neat footwork and fast hands proved too good for T Wilkinson of Golden Ring, Southampton.
Next saw welterweight Jack Fisher prove too strong for C Chilton (Downend). Fisher's hard punches were too much for the Downend boy, forcing the referee to intervene and stop the contest.
Next up for Trowbridge was welterweight Andy Kerslake, who outpointed previously unbeaten L Edwards (Malmesbury ABC) in a thrilling close contest.
Last on for Trowbridge was experienced Rob Fearnley against Sam Wilcox (Lydney ABC).
Fearnley's fast combinations were the key in what was another close contest. Fearnley survived a torrid last round to take a well-deserved majority decision over the game Wilcox.
Frome's Mike Rose seemed to be behind on points when in the second round produced a stunning punch to Ko J Kaye of Lawrence.
The Trowbridge club train at Riverway and are looking for new members and if anyone is interested, coaches plus volunteers, to help run this expanding club.
