EQUESTRIAN: David hoping to taste medal glory

David Doel David Doel

DAVID Doel is hoping to repay the faith shown in him by the British Equestrian Federation by clinching an international medal for his country this season.

The 19-year-old eventer, who is based in Reybridge, near Lacock, kept his spot on the programme for a second two-year cycle and was part of GB’s Young Rider team for last year’s FEI European Championships in Malmö, Sweden.

Doel had a 2012 to remember as he became national U21 champion with Koyuna Sun Magic and said: “I’m 20 in February so I’ve still got a bit of time left as a young rider but I’m also looking at maybe doing a few three or four star senior events if I can, too.

“Being on the world class programme again too is also really important and I’m glad I’ve stayed on there.’’
