RING-RUSTY Chippenham lost locks Aaron Ascott and Matt Bye to red cards as they slipped to a National Three South West defeat in Cheltenham.
The home side, coached by former South Africa full-back Thinus Delport, caught Chippenham napping two minutes in with a try from full back George Hughes, converted by centre Brett Turner, who then added a penalty.
Chippenham’s Andy Bye was yellow-carded and joined in the sin-bin by home prop Connor Thompson.
Having not played for three weeks, the visitors took their time to get into the game, but scrum-half Lewis Surry crossed for his 12th try of the season and Harry Taylor converted.
However, Patesians scored again through fly-half Matt Dean and the second half got off to an awful start for the visitors when Ascott was sent off for a tip tackle.
Pats went further in front with another Dean try but Chippenham were rewarded with a try by Ryan Surry, only for Bye to be given his marching orders for a second yellow card offence..
Flanker Paul Scott was also sent off for the home side late on.
