SWIMMING: Teenager Moores wins world championship bronze
TROWBRIDGE teenager Aaron Moores is celebrating after clinching a bronze medal in the S14 100m backstroke at the IPC World Swimming Championships last night.
The 19-year-old, who swims for Trowbridge amateur swimming club, touched home in third place with a time of 1:05.88 in Montreal.
South Korea's Lee Inkook was second (1:01.05) whilst Dutchman Marc Evers set a new world record of (1:00.96).
Moores' club-mate Chloe Davies, 14, narrowly missed out on her own podium place as she finished fourth in the womens' S14 100m backstroke race.
Davies (1:08.93) was 0.3 of a second behind Great Britain team-mate Jessica Jane Applegate, who secured third place in 1:08.90 whilst winner Marlou van der Kulk, from the Netherlands, set a new world record of 1:06.70.
